Precise gear up for the big Christmas light switch-on.
If you’ve been shopping recently, you’ll have noticed the Christmas decorations and lights starting to creep their way into storefront and building entrances. Santa is on the way, and it definitely feels as if he’s a little earlier each year.
At Precise, we start work on our Christmas preparations pretty early, too. Only, we’re not putting up decorations and wrapping presents just yet. No, instead, we’re preparing for our biggest ever festive season.
We know a thing or two about event lighting, but when it comes to Christmas, we really do shine (sorry). Over the course of two weeks we will be delivering not one, not two, not even three, but twenty Christmas light switch on events! On certain days, we’ll even be delivering three consecutive events on the same day. Mr Claus has nothing on us.
These events stretch the length and breadth of the central belt of Scotland and we love doing them. We take literally everything. Our kit list for a Christmas light switch-on event generally looks like this:
Lighting
Power Distribution
Entertainment
…and plenty of engineers
The only thing left at Precise HQ is our own Christmas lights we’ve not had time to put up yet and rolling bales of tumbleweed.
Logistically, these events are very tricky and take a number of years to perfect. With so many elements to consider and the sheer size of the crowds (often up to 3,000 people attend), we really have to be on our toes. As always, safety is of primary concern, but we want to ensure we put on a good show, too.
The day starts early. At 8am, the Precise kit vans roll onto the highstreet and our team begin setting up the PA, stage and lighting. By midday, we’re finished and ready to deliver 3-4 hours of entertainment for the masses. At the end of the day, the reverse process takes place and all of the kit is gradually loaded back into the van. If it’s a multi event day, we have multiple teams and multiple copies of kit doing the exact same thing at different locations.
So, if you’re coming to a Christmas light switch-on in Scotland, there’s a very good chance the team at Precise will have made it possible. We look forward to seeing you there!
