We often get asked what it’s like to work in the events industry, with many thinking that we get to enjoy the glitz and glam that comes with the events we are at. Now we would be lying if we were to say this is not a great perk of the job, however there are some other realities you must take into account if you are thinking of a career in the events industry.
What is it like to work in the events industry? Well it’s a little like this…
Long hours
One thing is for sure, if you choose to work in the events industry you are not entering your usual 9-5, often working long hours at the weekends and at peak times in the year!
Glamorous locales
Working in events you will see some mighty impressive stage sets, but its usually setup by yourself and you will always be there before and after.
Travel the world
True, if the UK counts as the entire world. It is a far cry from jet-setting first class as you travel event to event, but here’s a top tip – avoid being in the middle of the van on those long journeys…
Build your survival skills
A plus side is that you will build an immunity to extreme temperatures, hot or cold, you laugh in the face of wild weather as you stand outside for hours facing the elements.
Memorable and Rewarding
All joking aside, we love working in events, it may be mad and at times extraordinary, but it’s why we do what we do. Simply Put, we wouldn’t have it any other way!
